Lt. Governor Cox strives to be an advocate for equality in every aspect of society. One issue he cares deeply about is women’s leadership. His efforts to encourage businesses and other organizations to promote more women to leadership roles has made him a reliable and familiar voice for the issue. He speaks regularly to business leaders on the subject to both raise awareness of the problem and reinforce the need to make a conscious effort to mentor women and give them the opportunities they deserve. That being said, the private sector is only part of the solution. Lt. Governor Cox frequently encourages women to get more involved in public service. We need more women running for office and leading the many public agencies that create policy to improve our communities, state, nation and world.

Apart from being vocal and publicly supporting the efforts of many organizations pushing for more opportunities for women, Lt. Governor Cox serves on the Women’s Leadership Institute (WLI) Advisory Board. WLI is a non-profit organization that strives to elevate the stature of women’s leadership in Utah. They encourage businesses and organizations to hire and promote more women and offer career and political development courses for women from all walks of life. Lt. Governor Cox is honored to serve with WLI and participate in their events and workshops. Learn more about the Women’s Leadership Institute at
