Joe Pyrah is the current chief of staff to Utah Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson, a position he has held since March 2023. In this capacity, he serves as a senior advisor to the lieutenant governor and oversees a diverse team encompassing executive, election, and apostille staff.

Prior to his current role, Pyrah had an extensive career in journalism, working as an award-winning political reporter and newsroom editor for nearly 15 years. His experience in the political arena also includes a tenure as chief of staff in the Utah House of Representatives for Speaker Becky Lockhart from 2011 to 2014.

Pyrah's commitment to public service extends beyond his professional responsibilities. He currently serves on the board of Odyssey House, a prominent organization dedicated to providing drug addiction rehabilitation services in Utah.

A resident of Provo, Utah, Pyrah has been married to his wife Amy for 27 years. Together, they have six children.
