Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson provides updated election results guidance ahead of Election Day
SALT LAKE CITY (Nov. 7, 2022) – On Monday, Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson provided updated election-night guidance to Utah’s 29 county clerks in anticipation of potentially long lines on Election Day.
The guidance instructs county clerks to withhold posting election results until all 29 county clerks confirm their polling places have closed and all voters in line by 8 p.m. have cast their ballots. In the absence of long lines at polling places, results will go live at 8 p.m. as planned.
“While I’m hopeful early election results will go live shortly after polls close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, this guidance may impact the release timeline for results in Utah,” Lt. Gov. Henderson said. “Eligible voters deserve the opportunity to cast their ballots without outside influence, including data from preliminary results.”
Counties will upload preliminary results to electionresults.utah.gov. Election watchers can expect daily updates at 5 p.m. until the final state-wide canvass.
