Literacy Symposium Focuses on Reading Tools
State officials met with educators, business leaders, librarians and others to discuss ways to help our children level up literacy skills. The Lt. Gov. joined authors like Brandon Mull, Ally Condie and Jennifer Nielsen in sharing how reading has benefitted them and how it can do the same for all Utah kids.

Literacy site visit to Montezuma Creek Elementary School
Montezuma Creek Elementary is part of the San Juan School District and built on Navajo Nation tribal land. Some students have to walk miles just to get to a bus stop. Others are living without electricity or running water. But they value the benefits of reading and education and love coming to school. They’re working hard to acquire the literacy

Lieutenant Governor Henderson Visits Alpine School District
The Lt. Governor continues literacy visits all across Utah to learn how educators are using specialized training to teach reading skills. Lt. Governor Henderson heard from literacy coaches, administrators and teachers at Springside Elementary about their triumphs and challenges. The state has a goal for 70% of all third-graders to read at or above proficiency level by 2027. A combined
