Public notice: Soliciting arguments against constitutional amendments
Tags: Lt. Gov. Deidre HendersonThe Office of the Lieutenant Governor is preparing information about the Constitutional Amendments that will appear on the 2024 General Election ballot in November. In accordance with Utah Code 20-7-705, voters may request to submit an argument AGAINST the following Constitutional Amendments:
H.J.R. 10 (2023) – Proposal to Amend Utah Constitution – Election of County Sheriffs
H.J.R. 18 (2023) – Proposal to Amend Utah Constitution – State School Fund
Voters wanting to write an argument against either of the constitutional amendments listed above must submit a written request to the Speaker of the House of Representatives no later than June 10, 2024 at 5:00 pm. Requests to write the against argument must be sent to houseinfo@le.utah.gov. Please contact the Utah House of Representatives at 801-538-1048 for more information.
A voter who is granted permission to write the argument against a constitutional amendment must submit their written argument to the Office of the Lieutenant Governor by 5:00 pm seven days after the voter receives permission from the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
